Internship at Axians

Read what Lucas Thoma, trainee, and student in the fourth year of study at Střední škola informatiky, poštovnictví a finančnictví Brno, příspěvková organizace, who finished an internship at Axians Czech Republic said about us. Did he enjoy the internship and what is his favorite memory? We asked. 

How did you find out about Axians? When did you hear about us for the first time?

Honestly by accident, it was fate. I had the opportunity to meet and contact someone who works at Axians and arrange the internship. Later I found out that Axians is a part of the huge worldwide corporation VINCI Energies.

How long have you worked at Axians and for which team? What specifically were you responsible for?

I worked here for two months and specifically for the Support Services team led by Lukáš Grňa. I was in charge of server administration, Active Directory administration and solving problems with customers, etc.

What did this internship bring you?

I got a lot of valuable experience for life. I got to know how things work in a working environment, met new people, and got an insight into the IT industry. I found out what this particular job entails.

What did you like most about working at Axians?

The great team, the company benefits, the work environment, and the work itself. In general, I like the Axians culture and your approach. Also, I like to remember the company breakfasts, I thought that was really good.

Did the internship help you in planning your future career?

Definitely! I only tried a fraction of the IT field, but I already know I want to go deeper in this industry and expand my knowledge.

What advice would you give other students who are considering an internship?

Go for it! It will certainly pay off and it can be anything from the IT field. It is a great life experience for sure. You will learn a lot of new things and maybe you will find out what you do or do not enjoy, which is very important because IT is a very broad field. On top of that, you get new contacts and meet new people.

What is your best experience with Axians?

Well, it was the Axians 10th years anniversary party in the Czech Republic. That was awesome! I really enjoyed it.

Would you like to work for Axians after you finish school?

Surely! I would be very interested and would love to come back someday. Like I mentioned before, in Axians you have a great work environment, great benefits, a local gym, awesome colleagues, company breakfast, and great work, so for me, YES.
